Embark on a unique and thrilling adventure to Spencer Glacier’s calving face, where a wild river meets a lake filled with majestic icebergs. Our jetboats, specially designed for New Zealand’s glacier waters, are perfectly suited for Alaska’s extreme rivers, ensuring an exhilarating and safe journey.
Your adventure begins at the Placer Overflow parking area along the Seward Highway. Here, we’ll equip you with personal flotation devices before setting off on an exciting upriver cruise. You’ll be surrounded by stunning mountain, river, and glacier scenery as the river twists through braided, rapid, and rocky sections, offering incredible views every moment.
Entering Spencer Lake is a truly awe-inspiring experience, as you’ll immediately encounter massive icebergs. We’ll approach them for an incredible closer view, then cruise by the glacier’s face, allowing you to observe and listen as Spencer Glacier drips, moans, and calves. This is where the magic of kayaking comes in: you’ll have the unparalleled opportunity to kayak near the glacier’s face or paddle around these incredible icebergs, offering a profound connection with this dynamic environment. Feel at one with your surroundings, taking in the sights and sounds as the ice cracks and melts.
The return trip is just as exciting, as we gain the river’s speed through the twists and turns, adding an extra thrill to your journey.
Dress in warm layers and bring cased cameras to capture the breathtaking scenery. Our jetboats are equipped with convertible tops for rainy days, and rain gear is available if needed.
Ready to witness the power and beauty of Spencer Glacier up close?
Andy and crew took us through the true Alaskan backcountry, with a final stop at the Spencer Glacier. The magnitude of the glaciers cannot be captured with photos or videos and made the experience worth every penny. They provided us with all the proper gear, hot chocolate and snacks. If we ever make it back to Alaska, we will go again
