Experience snowmobiling high on the glacier snowfields of Alaska’s Kenai Mountains on this unique excursion. Helicopters provide access to the Godwin Glacier, flying above Resurrection Bay and past a blue ice face to our glacier snowfield basecamp. Operating snowmachines requires basic motorsport skills as you follow your guide on a looping journey, with stops for photos in the alpine area.
Your adventure begins at the Seward Helicopters office at the Seward Airport. Here, you’ll check in for a snow safety briefing, gear selection, and helicopter orientation. Once outfitted, prepare your cameras and sunglasses for the ten-minute helicopter ride into a white glacier world. Basecamp is nestled on the snowfield, surrounded by mountains, providing an ideal setting for snowmobiling. Guides will walk you through every step of the ride.
Snowmachines, as they’re known in Alaska, are similar to other motorsports with handlebar controls for throttle and brake. They offer Alaska’s favorite winter activity. Balance in sloping terrain, eye-hand coordination, and a sense of adventure will help you navigate the snowy environment. Traversing the Godwin Glacier accesses overlooks which, on clear days, include ocean views of the Kenai Fjords’ Day Harbor. You’ll loop back to our basecamp to conclude your ride and prepare for the heli-tour back to Seward.
This summer helicopter-accessed snowmobiling experience is a distinctive offering in Alaska.
